Creating Your Own Luck with Your internalGPS

This is the first of four posts on how to create your own luck. I am declaring March as a month of luck with St. Patrick’s day coming and the stories and symbols of luck around this Irish tradition.

Living in the moment, laughing and loving are the first tips on how to create your own luck. The next post will be all “U” words, this “LUCK” acronym is a fun way to remember them!

Living in the moment is simply staying present to what is happening now versus going into stories about the past or ideals of what the future will bring. Of course you need to learn from the past and plan for the future and it is also a good practice to notice when you are drifting too much into these other areas and missing out on the here and now. What you do now will bring you luck in the future. Read more from a prior post, “Coaching for Mindfulness.”

Laughing is so important for creating your own luck. Chopra Center is offering their annual 21-day meditation challenge (linked) and Day 13 is all about laughter. From the Day 13 description on the site: “Research has shown that laughter (both real and “fake”) can lower blood pressure, decrease stress hormones, and strengthen our immune system.” If you want more luck then laugh more!

Loving and expressing gratitude about all that is around you now will bring you luck. When you do this, your brain is in a creative/innovative state that is open to new ideas and solutions to problems that will pop up and make you feel lucky! Read more about increasing your positive emotions for more luck in this prior post: “Transform Your Ability to Navigate to Success with the Tipping Point of 3:1.”

I love to work with individuals and teams on how they can create their own luck  through deliberate shifting of their thinking and daily habits. What luck has come your way through shifting how you think or what you do? Please share in a comment
